Interview With Nick Harper |

How did you first get involved with the Love Hope Strength Foundation?Mike Peters rang me and asked! He didn't know, but it was my mothers birthday and she is buried in our garden at home having died of cancer some years before. As Mike outlined the goals of the foundation I could see my mother's headstone from the kitchen window. I would have said yes to being involved in a flash anyway, but it was actually a very profound and powerful moment. Did you enjoy the Snowdon Rocks event? It was good to meet so many great people, some of whom are going to be on the Everest rocks trek. A decent bit of training for the real thing and the sunshine on the summit was right on cue. But it was the minutes silence that took hold of me. For the first time a minutes silence was not a matter of remote respect, but a potent connection with someone in my own life who is now gone. How are you preparing for everest? Any fitness/diet preparations?I'm wearing my new boots all day every day. What expectations do you hold for the Everest trip?I'll take it as it comes, but it sounds like the trip of a lifetime. An inspiring challenge in the most dramatic of scenery both visually and symbolically. What are your future plans - anymore fundraising for LHS?I've put my name forward for the gig on the International Space Station, the sponsored pogo around the Grand Canyon observational bridge and I hope to be involved and working with LHS for a long time to come. At least another 100 years if possible. NICK HARPER Get Nick's latest single from itunes here. |
